Clinton Elementary School
AEC provided Mechanical, Plumbing and Technology engineering design services for the LEED renovation and addition of Clinton Elementary School. The historic 55,000 square foot building was constructed in 1922 and is designed to house up to 400 students, grades PreK-5. Building services included installing energy efficient mechanical systems that consist of a dedicated outdoor air unit with energy recovery, high efficiency condensing boilers, an oil free magnetic variable speed air cooled chiller and rain water harvesting. Construction cost for the renovation was approximately $11.3M. This building achieved LEED Gold Certification through the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

Watkins Elementary School
AEC provided professional engineering design services for the replacement of the existing boilers at the Watkins Elementary School. The project required designing a phased renovation plan that accommodated ongoing school operations during construction. The project included the installation of two cast iron gas-fired boilers, design of new DDC control to monitor boiler, heating hot water pumps, compressed air system for DDC control, new stacks and combustion air system.

Newton K-12 School
AEC was part of a team that was selected to provide engineering design and construction administration services for a new 87,321 square foot, K-12 school building. AEC was responsible for providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology system design for the new facility. Areas to be used by children ages 3 through 12 were designed to meet proposed new ADA regulations while areas used primarily by students 12 and over were designed to meet current ADA regulations.

McPherson Middle School
One of the first projects to be affected by the state of Ohio's LEED Silver mandates, the new 85,934 square foot McPherson Middle School took sustainable design just a little bit further and achieved LEED Gold certification. Sustainable highlights include daylighting monitors and a displacement ventilation system. The building is designed to create smaller learning communities arranged around extended learning spaces. Shared use spaces include a 600-seat gymnasium, a flexible cafeteria, and a state-of- the-art media center. AEC was responsible for providing mechanical and plumbing engineering design services for this new school building. Construction cost was approximately $10.2 million. The building was designed to achieve a LEED Gold certification through the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

Elgin K-12 School
AEC provided electrical design services for this new 171,890 square foot, two-story K-12 school facility. AEC was responsible for complete electrical design, including production of documents and preparation of LEED templates for Sustainable Site Credit SSc8, Indoor Environmental Quality Credit Eqc6.1. The total construction cost for this OSFC project was approximately $30M. The facility is USGBC LEED Silver certified and incorporated numerous sustainable construction techniques and green building features. The building achieved LEED Silver certification through the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

Wedgewood Middle School
AEC was retained to provide MEPT engineering design and construction administration services for the new Wedgewood Middle School. The new, $15.2M, 87,152 square foot school building includes academic learning space, special education space, gymnasium, library, cafeteria / food service area, physical education, media space, technology education, music, visual arts, family and consumer science, and administration areas. AEC was responsible for providing all building services engineering design including electrical power distribution, security systems, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, illumination, technology, and data/Telecommunication. AEC was also responsible for the layout and design of the school’s security system. The school’s base security system consists of door contacts, motion sensors, glass break detectors, keypads and control panel which interface with PC-based security management software. Proximity detection based access control system and CCTV systems with remote monitoring capabilities also interface with the security management software. Floor plans, specifications and user diagrams were prepared for this new school.

Hopewell-Loudon PK-12 School
AEC provided plumbing and fire protection engineering designs for the new 127,000 square-foot Hopewell-Loudon Pk-12 school. All designs were in compliance with all applicable requirements of the 2010 Ohio School Facilities Commission Design Manual and the Ohio Plumbing Code. The fire protection design included fire suppression systems and fire pumps to increase pressure to the sprinkler system. The plumbing design included the creation of new sanitary drainage mains after concerns were raised from the school board. The building achieved LEED Silver certification through the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

Champion Middle School
AEC provided complete M/E/P/T engineering design services for the new 73,880 square foot Champion Middle School in Columbus, OH. Services included power distribution, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, technology, lighting, system control, data/communications, security and sound systems. AEC also provided construction administration duties that included shop drawing review, site visits and inspections of work progress. The Construction cost was $11 million.

Lincoln Park Elementary School
AEC provided complete M/E/P/T engineering design services for the new 51,000 square foot Lincoln Park Elementary School. AEC was responsible for designing the electrical power distribution, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, technology, lighting, system control, data/telecommunications, security and sound systems. Construction cost was $7.5 million.
