AEC was retained by the U.S. Air Force to conduct an assessment and subsequently to prepare construction documents for replacement of Air-Handling Units (AHUs) in a 176,300 square foot building at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. This is a high-security facility and work in the building was performed after hours and under escort. The AHUs work in conjunction with other equipment to provide heating, ventilation and air conditioning for the facility. The scope of the assessment work included an evaluation of each of the building’s AHU’s, return fans and ductwork, mixing boxes and air devices. The design and construction were completed over several phases.
