We have two new plaques to hang in the office! Not only was AEC named one of the Top MEP Giants for 2018, we were also named a Top Women-Owned Business for 2018. Congratulations to Lisa and all of AEC’s employees who are putting in the hard work to help us reach the criteria for each of these awards. AEC has had a great year and we look forward to finishing it strong.

The City of Columbus held a groundbreaking ceremony for Fire Station 35. This is the first new station for the City and features special decontamination areas to protect firefighters from spreading harmful toxins from an emergency scene. This exciting project well have a lasting impact on the community and on the health and well-being of fire responders for the City. AEC was responsible for design of the MEPT/FP engineering systems. AEC worked closely with the architect and City to help realize the goals of the decontamination area and other special features within the station.

Congrats to our VAB Office on earning the Merit Award for Excellence in Development Design for our work at the Icon at City Walk complex. The award was for Best Multi-Family Commercial Housing Project from the Hamptons Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate. The Icon at City Walk project converted a 23-story bank building into a 300+ unit luxury apartment building.

Congrats to our VAB Office on the recent LEED Gold Certification of the James City County Fire Station 1! AEC provided MEP engineering design for this fire station.

AEC celebrated our 20th Anniversary on Sept. 16th. Lisa Huang founded the firm out of the basement of her home and has grown the firm to 4 offices and nearly 70 staff in 20 years. Congrats to her and everyone who has been involved in growing AEC into the firm it is today!

AEC is proud to announce that we made Consulting-Specifying Engineer Magazine’s MEP Giants 2018 List! AEC is ranked 99th on the list of the top 100 MEP engineering firms in the United States and Canada. AEC had a fantastic year last year and is honored to be include in this list of firms. Be sure to view our project highlight on the CSE website. Congrats to all the firms who made the list!

On July 12th, AEC held an Open House Reception in celebration of our upcoming 20th Anniversary. Many of our clients, colleagues, teaming partners, and friends joined us for food, drinks, and fun. The Mayor of Columbus congratulated Lisa on the success of the firm and thanked her for being such a strong supporter of the Columbus community. Congratulations to AEC employee Mick Wolford, Director of Electrical/Technology Engineering, on earning his CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) credential! A CTS performs general technology solution tasks by: creating, operating and servicing AV solutions, and conducting AV management activities that provide for the best audiovisual resolutions of the client’s needs, both on time and within budget. This certificate further strengthens Mick’s ability to provide technology engineering designs for our clients! Congrats, Mick!

Our contract for a recently awarded IDIQ contract is finally in! The AEC-Emersion Joint Venture will be providing A/E services to the USACE Louisville District within the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division boundaries for five years. We are excited to continue our great relationship with USACE and look forward to receiving our first task orders.

Congratulations to AEC employee, Matt Muir, on earning his Commissioning Authority (CxA) credential. Matt is a mechanical engineer in our Columbus office who has been very involved with energy assessment and commissioning projects. We now have two Commissioning Authorities on staff!

Join us in welcoming several new employees to our team. Chad Comfort, a Senior Plumbing Designer, brings over 20 years of experience to our Virginia Beach office. Jeff Ridenour, an electrical designer, brings over 10 years of experience to our Columbus office. We are excited to welcome everyone to our growing firm!

February 2018

After 8 years, we are wrapping up the finishing touches on the City of Columbus Dublin Road Water Plant Expansion project this month. What started as a project conducting assessments of the existing facilities and building systems, turned into a full design project. Our team performed assessments of the mechanical and plumbing equipment, provided recommendations for improvements, and then prepared construction documents for the improvements. It has been a long, complex project but we are happy to have been on the team for this project!

January 2018

AEC is starting fresh in 2018 after finishing a busy 2017. We submitted a total of 193 proposal qualifications to over 80 clients; plus, countless more fee proposals. Our JV team brought in two new IDIQ contracts and we started 198 new projects between our three main offices. What a year! We are looking forward to a new year and new projects!

Congrats to Fanning Howey and OSFC for adding another LEED Certified School to Ohio. AEC provided plumbing and fire protection engineering design for the new Eastwood Pk-5 School.
