AEC was contracted by the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department (CRPD) to provide project management and engineering design services to replace aged and failing HVAC equipment at eleven (11) different City of Columbus parks and recreation facilities.
AEC reviewed a previously completed report to understand the existing equipment and to guide the project. Following the review, AEC performed site visits to each facility to confirm the equipment and determine needs for each facility. AEC also interviewed operations and maintenance personnel to understand the system concerns. Various HVAC equipment included:
- Air-Handling Units
- Air-Cooled Condensing Units
- Fan Coil Units
- Unit Ventilators
- Furnaces
- Ductwork/Ductwork Insulation
- Boilers
- Boiler Flues
- Heating Hot Water Pumps
- Controls
Following the initial review and site visits, AEC met with project stakeholders to discuss the scope and estimates, and to determine the design scope to proceed with. Based on those conversations, AEC provided construction documents and final estimates for the replacement of systems to meet the project goals. Construction estimate is $2.7M.
