MEP
AEC was awarded a yearly MEP Engineering Services contract with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). Services included preparation of engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and plumbing, mechanical and electrical engineering design services for various projects. These engineering services are provided on an “as-needed” basis. A partial list of projects included:
Headquarters Garage Emergency Generator, District 9: AEC provided electrical and mechanical design services, construction drawings, and bid documents for the installation of a standby generator for this ODOT maintenance garage. Responsibilities included evaluating emergency power requirements for standby power with generator size, providing automatic transfer switch and distribution equipment for emergency branch circuits, providing gas supply to generator, reconfiguring existing circuit to emergency branch, and obtaining permits and plan approvals.
HVAC Upgrade, District 10: AEC was responsible for providing mechanical and electrical design services for a replacement of HVAC systems for the ODOT District 10 Traffic Building in Marietta, OH. Goal of the project was to replace all aged equipment and improve distribution, comfort and controls. The restroom lighting and exhaust fan controls were also upgraded to occupancy sensor type (auto-off function for energy conservation).
Maintenance Garage Lighting Retrofit: AEC was responsible for evaluating the existing HID and T12 lighting system, producing payback calculations for upgrading the lighting system, designing high efficiency fluorescent high-bay lighting and controls, providing emergency lighting in conjunction with the generator project, and obtaining permits and plan approvals.
