AEC was contracted for three projects to support COTA’s efforts to add electrical vehicle charging stations at park and ride sites and transit centers across the city. For each project, AEC evaluated the sites for feasibility and required power for the installation of Level 2 EV charging stations. While each site required different services, scope included replacement of existing pad-mounted transformers or overhead transformers, installation of new power distribution equipment including underground electrical pathways and pullboxes, modifications to existing switchboards from on-site buildings, and upgraded/new site lighting.
AEC worked with local utilities providers including AEP and City of Columbus to confirm service in the area to support the EV charging stations. At several sites, AEC included additional conduit pathways and connection for future additional charging stations.
