The project is part of an initiative to improve student experiences beyond the classroom and will allow for a two-year on-campus residency requirement. AEC’s responsibilities consist of providing MEPT engineering services for two new facilities and renovations to the existing residential high-rise towers on north campus. The new facilities AEC is responsible for include a new 3-story athletic center for exercise and multi- purpose activity. The second building designed is a two story glass structure with a mini student union and food court on the first level and a banquet hall on the located on the second level designed for multiple group activities and presentations. In the basement, AEC designed a mini plant for domestic and heating hot water to serve 6 other buildings in the vicinity. The renovation work in the towers includes lobby additions for Drackett Tower, Taylor Tower and Jones Tower which will improve the access into the existing towers and provide much needed areas for community activities. Each building design was part of a USGBC LEED submittal which is ongoing and each building is being fully commissioned.
