AEC was retained to provide electrical and fire protection engineering design services for Rhodes Hall at The Ohio State University. The existing fire alarm system in Rhodes Hall was outdated and a fire code compliance issue. The project scope included evaluation, design, and replacement of the entire system to meet current fire codes and ADA requirements.
Rhodes Hall is a 17-story high rise building that is approximately 508,000 GSF.
AEC provided engineering design services, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimating, bidding documents, and construction administration services. The work was broken in to five phases: field investigation and schematic design, design development, detail construction document plan and specification, bid and construction administration service.
The hospital remained operational and occupied during construction. The existing system remained online while the new system was installed.
