AEC was part of a design team providing construction documents for the renovation of a 3-story, 43,000 sf abandoned building into a behavioral health center. The center provides inpatient and outpatient treatments for patients experiencing mental health struggles.
AEC was responsible for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering designs. The building will require significant demolition work and removal of most mechanical, plumbing, and electrical equipment before renovations and new construction can begin.
Mechanical engineering services include:
- HVAC system with direct digital controls and energy calculations
- New plumbing extended from exterior wall throughout the building including hot and cold water distribution, sanitary, and plumbing fixtures
- Sprinkler fire protection and suppression systems
Electrical engineering services include:
- Site electrical system including electric and communication services to building service rooms, site lighting, and grounding
- Building electrical system including normal and emergency power system, power distribution, lighting and controls, energy calculations, and fire alarm system.
- Coordination to provide pathway and rough-in for telecommunications, cable TV, access control, paging and security systems.
