The Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky is a 427-bed nursing home facility. Two levels of care are offered: standard care for those veterans in need of any intermediate level of care, and special care for veterans with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

AEC was selected as the lead firm to prepare construction documents for mechanical upgrades at this nursing facility. The project replaced 344 thru-the-wall units with new thru-the-wall units providing outside ventilation in the first and second floor residential rooms in Veterans Hall. The project installed a four-pipe system allowing residents to have either heating or cooling as needed. This system included the installation of a 300-ton and a 200-ton chiller as well as increasing the efficiency of the current chiller system that services the corridors and public areas.
